Question: My wife is 18 weeks pregnant now. She is unable to eat anything. She vomits if she eats anything. Doctor has adviced to take tablets to stop vomiting everyday. Is it safe to take tablets everyday. And any solution without taking tablets?

Answer: Hello , Dear vomit and nausea are completely common and normal during pregnancy. It happens because of hormonal changes in the body. If the vomit is excessive then it's completely safe to have doctor prescribed Medicine. Some medicine are mainly for vomit during pregnancy. So don't worry just take the medicine as prescribed by doctor.. Here are some remedies that can help you wife with vomit; 1. Drink ginger tea in the morning. She can make this by boiling one cup water and adding one teaspoon grated ginger and honey to it. Ginger candy is another way to make you feel better. She can also eat a raw piece of ginger or snack on ginger cookies any time during the day. 2. Sprinkle a few drops of peppermint essential oil on a handkerchief and keep smelling it whenever you feel like puking. Simply chew on peppermint leaves. Peppermint candies are also equally effective. 3.Make some cinnamon tea by adding a 1-inch cinnamon stick to a cup of boiling hot water and simmer for 10 minutes. Let it cool and add a teaspoon of honey to it. Drink this cinnamon tea whenever you feel like vomiting. It also improves digestion. 4.Just squeeze half a lemon into one glass of warm water and add a teaspoon of honey and drink this juice daily in the morning. Alternatively, you may also inhale lemon essential oil sprinkled to a handkerchief for instant relief. 5.You can consume it in the morning by mixing one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and honey with warm water. You can also consume the vinegar in small quantities during the day. 6.You can consume a bowl of yoghurt 1-2 times in a day for a sated feeling. Or just add fresh strawberries or a fruit of your choice to enhance the flavour. 7.You can consume it along with your fruit salad or blend it with banana and a cup of water and sprinkle some honey to make a refreshing kiwi drink. 8.You can eat 2-3 almonds during the day as a snack or consume 10-12 soaked almonds at night before going to bed in order to avoid morning sickness. 9.You may chew on fennel seeds whenever you get a feeling of nausea for instant relief. You may also make fennel tea by adding the seeds to a cup of hot boiling water and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain the concoction and add a teaspoon of honey. Drink this tea in the morning to curb your morning sickness. 10.Add a few cumin seeds to boiling water and simmer for a few minutes. Strain and drink 2-3 times a day to help eradicate morning sickness and nausea.
