Question: Hi Doctor, my cervical length is 2.8 cm at 9th week. Should I worry ? This is my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy in 20th week showed a length of 0.8 cm and cerclage was put. I am told to repeat the same now at 13th week. Is 2.8 cm very low at 9th week??
Answer: Hi dear,
Cervical length is the length of the lower end of uterus.in non pregnant women it is 4-5 cm.you seems to have quite short cervical length.anything below,2.2 cm could increase your chance of preterm labor.initial symptoms of shorter cervical length, could be:
1- vaginal discharge which is often pink or tan
2- increased pelvic pressure
3-watery white discharge
6- premenstrual like cramps
Though the above symptoms could also be due hormonal changes, but it's better to check with your doctor.it usually decreases only at the final stages to induce labor.
Cervical insufficiency,is the reason for such early dialation of cervix and shortening the length.
Question: Hi am in my 6th week...now i got little bit of brown discharge...am very much worried about it...is it normal?
Answer: Hello dear. This means it has a lot of blood vessels, so it can bleed easily. If your cervix is irritated during pregnancy, it may cause some brownish-pink discharge. This can happen at any point during your pregnancy. It may be caused by intercourse a cervical check by your doctor, or an infection. It would settle down gradually. If not please contact your gynecologist.
