Question: low laying placenta 11 my, it's normal
Answer: Low Lying Placenta or placenta previa : Low-lying placenta, or placenta praevia, is a complication of pregnancy where the placenta that feeds the growing baby is attached to the lower part of the womb near to or covering the cervix. A low lying placenta, by itself, may not require any treatment. If it is early in your pregnancy, before the twentieth week, then there is a good chance that the placenta will shift into an upward position as your uterus expands. If the placenta stays at a low lying position but is not near enough to the cervix to be classified as placenta previa. However there are treatments to prevent the two most common complications of a low lying placenta: bleeding and preterm labor. To prevent these problems some women are placed on bed rest or limited activity. Especially activities that result in bouncing or jarring of the lower abdomen need to be avoided. Similarly some women need to refrain from sexual intercourse, or the use of rectal suppositories or vaginal douches/suppositories. The degree of restriction depends on whether or not the woman is experiencing any vaginal bleeding or pre-term labor. There are several types of placenta praevia: A low-lying placenta is near the cervical opening but not covering it. It will often move upward in the uterus as your due date approaches.A partial placenta previa covers part of the cervical opening.A total placenta previa covers and blocks the cervical opening.

Question: Low laying placenta... what it means?? N what care should I take
Answer: Hello dear,. Low lying placenta can move up during the course of pregnancy. You must avoid intercourse and report any case of bleeding to your doctor. In a rare case that placenta does not move up also,  chances of anything bad happening to the baby or mother is very less. Just be careful about episodes of bleeding and please do not have sexual intercourse till you are advised that it is safe to do so. doctor will carefully slip a specially shaped device into your vagina to view your uterus. This shouldn't cause you any discomfort, and is a safe procedure. If the placenta is just covering or overlapping your cervix, a transvaginal scanlater in your pregnancy will show if it has moved.  you can find some spotting also.... Avoid heavy lifting and anything which puts pressure on your pelvic.... Hope it helped, Take care urself....

Question: In my USG scaning shows that, low laying placentae. So any problem is there?Am i need rest?
Answer: Dear You need to great more now. For a low lying placenta, less than 2 centimetres or even lesser it is very important to discuss with your gynaecologist about cerclage surgery which is done at 20 weeks time and you are currently in 28 weeks hence you must bed rest No bending or lifting anything up Sleep on the left side. Eat more of watery fruits juices and lot of fibrous foods. Do not force while going potty. low lying placenta carries a high risk of premature delivery or delivering your baby before the term is completed and high bleeding complications as well as stillbirth. Are you taking any tablets? as taking hormones from now on with your doctor's prescription will help you to carry your pregnancy safely till term please ask your gynaecologist about the placental medications now Do not worry Ask gynae if cerclage can be beneficial now.
