Question
Answer: Using castor oil to induce labor is simultaneously a good and bad idea. It's strong and often effective when no other non-chemical methods of induction work. Benefits of castor oil: 1. It induces contractions in the bowels, which in turn can cause the uterus to begin contracting as well. 2. It dehydrates the body, which can also cause contractions. 3. A key component of castor oil, targets prostaglandin receptors on smooth muscle cells in the intestines and uterus to stimulate contractions.

Question: My due date is 15 jan...my doctor advised me to take castor oil today?is it safe
Answer: Hello dear, It is safe, you can take. Castor oil is a liquid laxative that you can find in most drug and health food stores. There are three main ways it works to induce labor: It induces contractions in the bowels. In general, it takes about two to six hours before you feel the first effects of using castor oil, such as cramps and diarrhea. If it's going to happen, labor might begin up to 24 hours after drinking the oil. Take castor oil in the morning after a good night's sleep. Take several small doses (1-1.5 tablespoons) of castor oil 3-4 hours apart rather than one big dose.  Hope it helped, take care urself....
