Question: My baby is 16 days old, from birth only from his left eye water is coming out, doctor give eye drops but still water is coming out??
Answer: Hello dear, Babies are often born with a duct that is not fully open, so the tears are unable to drain away. Your baby's watery eye should get better on its own in a few weeks, once her tear duct has opened up. You can remove any sticky liquid or crusting by bathing her eye with cooled boiled water and cotton wool. In some situations, the eye drops given at the time of birth can cause eye irritation and such kind of eye issues disappears on its own. Breast milk is also very beneficial in an eye infection. If the eye irritation occurs by blocking tear duct, then simply a gentle warm massage between the eye and nasal area helps to ease the infant’s painful condition. It is also very important to wash hands by using sanitizer before and after touching the infected eyes.
