Question: My baby is 5 months 2 weeks old, can I give solid food to him, from when can I start and what should be given first
Answer: Eatables for less than 6 months old baby is not recommended coz baby's digestive is very very slow he/she cannot digest solids or semi solids. Breast milk should be the only source of nutrition for him till 6 months. Giving food to such a small baby can lead to various stomach problems like loose motions, fever, stomach pain or baby can become cranky. Even Dr doesn't recommend to give Eatables to such a small baby. Wait for few more weeks mommy. And once baby turn 6 months you can give daal paani, mash banana, apple puree
Question: my baby is 6 months and 15 days old what kind of food I give him
Answer: Hello dear, Its better to start with veggies/fruit purees at a time, first start with veggies like squash, sweet potato.... and maybe later peas, carrots. Fruits u can try banana, apple, plums, peaches, pears....You can also mix these veggie/fruit purees with rice cereal. Rice is gluten free and easier to digest than wheat....Grains/Cereals/Pulses: Oats, Barley, Rice, Semolina (Rava/Sooji), Split yellow gram (moong dal), whole green gram. Wheat can be introduced during the last week of 6th month. Don't giveNon-Vegetarian foods till1 year. Avoid giving cow’s milk as the main drink till your little one is 1 year old. Stick to breast milk or formula till then. Avoid sugar and salt from a 6 month old baby’s diet....Keep in mind that breast milk or formula should be the major part of a six-month-old baby’s diet. So breastfeed or bottle-feed first and then give him solid food. Solid 2 times, 3 to 4 spoon is enough at a time. Rest of time give breastmilk or formula milk.
