Question: Hi my baby is 14 days old ,by birth he was 3.2kg.but now he decreases weight upto 2.9..is it normal .wt want to do to increase weight
Answer: A healthy newborn is expected to lose 7% to 10% of the birth weight, but should regain that weight within the first 2 weeks or so after birth. During their first month, most newborns gain weight at a rate of about 1 ounce (30 grams) per day. Or 1 kg of weight each month till 6 month of age. So according to your babies birth you can calculate it.
You need to breast feed your baby every 2 hours for now. As babies milk gets digested in 90 minutes and at 120 hours baby feels the hunger again.
At night this can be extended by one hour but do feed at night also or baby will be dehyderated.
