Answer: If you are breastfeeding then breast milk is the best choice up to 1 year  Instead of fatty foods, high calorie energy dense foods increases weight without increasing the bad fat in the baby. Banana can be introduced as Banana Puree then after 8 months it can be given as pancakes, can be mixed in porridge and after a year as banana muffins. Pear can be given as one of the first solid foods of baby and helps in weight gain. Pear is one of the fruit that is very rich in Iron and is also a good source of dietary fiber, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin C. Peas can also be given after 6 months. Peas are among the most nutritious vegetables that can be introduced as baby’s first solid food. It is very high in dietary fiber, thiamine, vitamin C and high in magnesium, niacin, phosphorous and Vitamins A, B6. Sweet Potatoes are very low in saturated fat, high in dietary fiber, magnesium and potassium, vitamin B6 and very high in Vitamin A and C. They can be given as purees, sweet potato khichdi, pancake and as soups. Ghee can be added in almost all the food that the baby takes after 7 months, with around 1 tsp of ghee per meal. Start with few drops of ghee at first and slowly increase the quantity. Cheese can be given after 8 months. Cheese is rich in phosphorous, calcium and selenium. Question: My baby is not gaining weight properly. her weight is 6.300 gm and she is going to 6 month old her birth weight is 2.700gms.what should i do?
Answer: Hello dear. Congratulations for your baby. If your baby is around 6 months old and she weighs 6.300 grams it is not a very low wait it is she is just on the lower side of the recommendation of weights for female babies. At this age her weight should be somewhere close to 7.5 kg however that also depends on the height of the baby it would have been better had you written what is her height. All the height and weight chart actually refer to the average growth of height and weight and it is not necessary that everybody must have the exact rate of growth in weight and height as recommended in these charts. Every child has a different growth of rate and the will show different signs of learning habits also so I would recommend you to not to worry more about her weight but if you want to put on some extra weight on her and increase it then you should probably be taking care of what should she eat as now she is already 6 months old you must have introduced her to the solid you can give more of Bananas mashed form and you can add cream or milk to it to make it taste better. here at the same time you can also stew an apple and make it in a puree form and give to the baby besides that making Suji Kheer and rice water is considered very good for the health of the baby so it is also recommended for weight gain you just need to boil rice as well you doing cooking and strain out this water and let it cool and give it to your baby when it is born. Although you have started solids still you need to give educate quantity of milk to her so that it fulfills her requirement of calcium and vitamins. At the age of 6 months you should be probably feeding your baby milk at least three or four times a day. Make it a point to give her small breakfast earlier in the morning and then after that when you want to put your baby to sleep you can give a bottle feed to her or if you are breastfeeding her it is the best. I hope my answer was helpful to you
