Question: My amniotic fluid index level is 21,is there any problem in that, how to reduce amniotic fluid
Answer: Hello dear, common causes of excess amniotic fluid include gestational diabetes, fetal anomalies with disturbed fetal swallowing of amniotic fluid, fetal infections and other, rarer causes. You can't do anything only doctor can guide you better. Follow doctor's instructions.. You must avoid sugar and sweet food and fruit like banana. This procedure carries a small risk of complications, including preterm labor, placental abruption and premature rupture of the membranes. Your health care provider may prescribe the oral medication indomethacin  (Indocin) to help reduce fetal urine production and amniotic fluid volume. In some cases, a drug might be prescribed to reduce the amount of urine the baby passes. If you have severe polyhydramnios, you may need some of the amniotic fluid to be drained off to reduce the risk of premature labour or problems with the placenta.

Question: Is there any way to manage excess amniotic fluid during second trimester or
Answer: Polyhydramnios makes you feel bloated and exhausted. Talk to your doctor for suggestions for polyhydramnios management. There are few things to do at home for relief. Avoid physical activity Shortness of breath can be controlled by avoiding too much walking, running or climbing stairs. Bed rest is strongly recommended to prevent further pain or swelling in your legs. You might even want to prepone the date you start your maternity leave. Controlling heartburn As the uterus exerts pressure on the digestive organs, you might want to control this by eating small regular meals, staying up after eating for a few hours, avoiding spice in food, sleeping in a slightly upright position, and taking antacid medications. Reducing anxiety The stress from your pregnancy and polyhydramnios will have you feeling more anxious than usual. Try to relax more often by meeting friends, going out, watching movies, reading, or taking classes with experienced antenatal professionals.

Question: Is there any home remedy to reduce excess aminotic fluid ??
Answer: Hi. If your afi level is more than 25cm you are polyhydromnios means more amniotic fluid. If so you will be monitored closely as pre term contraction or labour me happen. If you're diagnosed with polyhydramnios, your doctor will order a high-resolution ultrasound to check for abnormalities and some test for a genetic defect and infections. You'll also need to have regular nonstress testor ultrasounds for the rest of your pregnancy to monitor your baby's development. And you'll be watched closely for signs of preterm labor. There are chances of gestational diabetes too so doctor will ask to go for diabeties test also. You'll be monitored carefully during labor as well. Because of the extra amniotic fluid, there's a greater risk of an umbilical cord prolapse (when the cord falls through the cervical opening) or a placental abruption when your water breaks. Both require an immediate c-section.
