Answer: Hi. Please stop giving baby cow milk immediately. Start it again once baby is one year old. But since your baby is also having formula milk green poop is normal dont worry about it. Cow's milk doesn't contain enough iron for young babies. Using it as a substitute for breastmilk before your baby turns one will leave your baby short of important nutrients and may lead to anaemia (too little iron in blood).

Answer: You can find a lot of different textures, colors, and odors in a baby’s poopy diaper based on what he’s eating (breast milk, formula, or solid foods). The poop is normally much softer than an adult's, and it’s not uncommon for it to be even softer than usual sometimes. But if it suddenly gets much looser or more watery, and happens more often and in large amounts, it may be diarrhea. Most common causes are food allergy or sensitivity to medicines An infection with a virus, bacteria, or parasite. Babies can pick up these germs through contact with unclean food or water or when they touch germy surfaces and then put their hands into their mouths. I recommend that you give your baby an oral rehydration solution. These products, which you can buy easily, have fluids and electrolytes and can prevent or treat dehydration. If your child eats solid foods, i recommend switching to bland, starchy foods like strained bananas, mashed apple and rice water until the diarrhea stops. Mothers who are breastfeeding might need to adjust their own diet to avoid any foods that could trigger diarrhea in their babies.Diarrhea that's caused by a viral or bacterial infection is very contagious. Wash your hands with warm water and soap every time you change your baby's diaper to prevent the infection from spreading. Keep the diaper-changing area clean and disinfected. Keep your child home from day care until he is completely recovered.

Question: Hello Dr My 4 month old baby poop colour is green. I am breast feeding him and also giving him lactogen daily once. From past 15 days his poop is green in colour and frequency is once in 4 days.Do i need to change the milk powder from lactogen to similac or some other or it is fine. Please suggest.
Answer: Hello! Green poop can be due to the imbalance between foremilk and hindmilk . Try to feed the baby from one breast only at a time. This should reduce the greenish potty. But if it does not then please consult the doctor, it can be due to infection also. Take care

Question: My baby is 12 months old . How to start giving cow's milk?? How much to give? When we should feed him? N whn i wil should give BM? planning to reduce bm n thn stop it.
Answer: Hello! You can start with a half cup of cow's milk in the morning. Then slowly increase it to 2cups of milk in a day. Don't give more than that or else the baby will not have anything else. Milk can be given in the mornning as soon as the baby wakes up. Breastfeeding can be done before nap and bed time and then slowly you can stop it completely. Take care
