Question: My hemoglobin is 8.6.Is it ok?
Answer: Your hemoglobin level is low, that means you are anemic. There are various causes for anemia like vomiting a lot,not having enough iron rich food, anemic before pregnancy,or merely due to the increase in plasma levels as compared to rbc.In any case, youneed to visit your gynaecologist so that she prescribes iron supplements for you immediately .Start having food rich in iron and folic acid-spinach,fenugreek,brocolli,beans,nuts,eggs,dairy products like milk, curd etc. One simple most effective recipe is :take spinach juice roughly 10 to 25 leaves of spinach, juice them in the mixer, squeeze a lemon and drink it so this will help iron absorption because most of the times you need to add a Vitamin C component such as lemon with your iron-rich food source to enhance the absorption. Avoid having tea/coffee as they inhibit iron absorption.

Question: My hemoglobin is 8.6.Is it ok?
Answer: Whenever you eat iron rich food take vitamin C rich food with it. Vitamin C increases absorbtion of iron. And do not take calcium rich food like curd, milk etc with iron rich food. Iron stops the absorbtion of calcium. Take iron supplements with food & calcium at night with milk. Our body absorbs Calcium best at night when we are sleeping. Calcium needs vitamin D & vitamin C for good absorption. And you can take a spoon of molasses daily. It is very rich in iron. Drink beetroot, carrot, tomato, ginger, gooseberry, mint mix juice. Highly rich in iron & vitamin C.
