Question
Answer: hi dear! Many fetuses with mild restriction will maintain normal or only slightly altered umbilical blood flow. Therefore, increased umbilical artery resistance identifies the fetus at risk, but a normal umbilical Doppler does not necessarily exclude the fetus from being at risk. but if you have mild resistance then generally there is no problem we will still have to follow up via the scans dear. take care.

Question: In the 29th week scan report there is mild high resistance waveform in umbilical artery.. Is this situation is critical??
Answer: Your doctor is signalling towards an intrae uterine growth restriction where in the blood towards the Placenta and the circulation throughout the body is impaired and also because of high resistanc in arteries it can be seeing the baby's not receiving blood adequately your doctor might prescribe you isoxsuprine tablet to thin your blood or also known as ecospirin or or baby aspirin but it is important to start medications now and see the outcome as you have only 3 weeks left to delivery so it is important to continue the medication for few weeks as it help the baby to recover and grow properly

Question: what is the reason behind high resistance flow in umbilical artery??
Answer: The main problems with abnormal uterine artery blood flow that persists throughout the pregnancy is that there is an increased risk for pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure, protein in the urine) during the late second and third trimesters of pregnancy. When this occurs, the only treatment is delivery. if my understanding is correct then u have a thick blood or kinda coagulation? coz if thats the case then it is pretty common in pregnant women that their blood gets thick and are prescribed blood thinner medication like ecosprin etc...this is due to certain hormones that are produced in body at this time. this is a very small thing, shouldn’t cause problem if medicine is taken...so relax and enjoy your pregnancy.
