Answer: Hi dear honestly the over the counter cough syrups does not really help in treating the cough in babies it is just for our peace of mind that we feed cough syrup to the baby the first thing that we need to solve is the cold which the baby has for which the baby is coughing how to get rid of cold in 5 months old baby you need to give a lot of steam bath to the baby at least 2 to 3 times a day you can run hotstar in your washroom and make the washroom steamy and can sit with the child it will help in losing the mucus and will drain through nostrils, apart from this please feed the baby breast milk because it has antibodies to fight with the germs, you can use nasoclear nasal drop which is safe for blocked nose lastly try to warm some mustard oil with garlic pods in it massage the baby thoroughly on the chest back and salts and make the baby wear a pair of socks so that the heat is retained and helps in healing the cold so that the cup subsites eventually with time please have patience it takes time for the cough to go away completely .. Hope this helps!

Question: My baby is coughing continously around 20 times at a stretch. I am giving the cough syrup given by doctor still. She is coughing. Any solution?
Answer: Hello! Ajwain or carom seeds have antiviral and antibacterial properties. Dry roast ajwain on a tava or pan. Put the ajwain in a cotton cloth and make a potli of it. Gently rub it on the baby’s chest, back, under feet and palms. Make sure the potli is not very hot. First, test the temperature by putting the potli on your wrist. Make sure that the baby must have a single layer of clothing before you start to rub potli on the body. Caution: Don’t rub it on the naked chest of your baby.

Answer: Hie Following are a few remedies that can help your baby  Slice up a fresh onion and keep in near your baby sulfur content in onion draws out mucus and fluid in r body . Run a humidifier through the room to help moisten the air and help baby breathe You may keep a bowl of hot water with 3-4 drops of eucalyptus oil to it to help relieve congestion. Saline water drops 1-2 drops in each nostril shall help loosen up the mucus and expel it from your babys body . Add 1-2 drops of eucalyptus oil to a tissue paper and keep it near baby to help breathe . Elevate your babys head with the help of a pillow to help him breathe and drain down mucus. Add 2 spoons of ajwain to a cotton cloth heat it on a tava and check on your inner wrist for temperature is mild warm apply on your baby's chest ,neck and nose . Gently dab for 3-5 mins and cover your baby, hold him upright and gently Pat his back to break congestion. Came across a doctor who prescribe Mucolite it's an mucus thinner which works by thinning the mucos and draining it out of baby body by poop It took a 3-4 days but I'd worked The quantity would depend on the weight so would suggest consult your pediatrician regarding same . Apart from that Massage your baby with a mustard oil heated on a low flame with 4-5  garlic cloves Drain and apply when mild warm And ensure you cover him well once you massage him with the oil Also rub oil onto his chest, palms and feets and put on tshirt, mittens and socks to trap the heat
