Answer: Hello dear. During pregnancy, your body makes a hormone called relaxin that allows ligaments in the pelvic area to relax and the joints to become looser in preparation for the birth process. The same hormone can cause ligaments that support the spine to loosen, leading to instability and pain. Here are a few tips that might relieve you from back pain : Ice or heat packs. Sleep on your left side, and use a support pillow under your knees. If these dosent help, please consult your gynecologist for further treatment. Take care.

Question: Hello i m 11 week pregnant i have swelling on my left lower back n i cant sleep properly
Answer: Dear if the pain and swelling is only on one side then it can be because of sciatic pain. It happens when the nerve is pressed. It happens to me also during my pregnancy. So it can be very painful so please avoid any sudden movements. Keep as active as possible, as this will help you to recover. As you try to do your normal activities, it's all right to feel a bit of pain, provided you pace yourself. Watch your posture and try to keep your back slightly arched. When sitting, use a small bolster cushion or a rolled-up towel behind your back to support your spine. Try not to lift anything heavy. If you do have to lift something, bend from your knees and keep your back straight. Keep the object you're lifting close to your body. Listen to your body and stop doing whatever makes your pain more severe.Try not to stay still for long periods. Resting in bed for longer than short periods is unlikely to help. Sleep on your side with a pillow or two tucked between your knees. Sleeping on your side is best for your baby
