Answer: hi dear polyhydramnios is a condition where the amniotic fluid index is higher than normal now usually this party is ranges between 8 to 18 and around 20 to 35 weeks it should be 14 and after that it keeps reusing now if it is 18 to 20 in your case at 38 weeks pregnancy then it is more than normal and the excess water can arise a lot of issues hence this excess water needs to be drained out your Dr. can either use medication or amniocentesis to drain out the excess water because it is too risky for the baby because it can cause preterm birth or placental abruption.. please do not over stress yourself and do as the doctor say..
