Question: I'm in 37th week. Yesterday I went to ultrasound scan. In report it is mentioned I'm having upper segment posterior grade 2. What does it means?
Answer: Hi! Report is normal dear. Usually the position of placenta is either at side or top if the placenta is attached at the back side of the uterus is posterior placenta, incase of anterior placenta there is some difficulties as it is attached at the front. The grading is a terminology used in USG's the grade |, ||, ||| denotes how far you have come along in pregnancy or how much used is your placenta. If you follow your previous reports it would show | or || so thats how its calculated. Dont worry if there is any problem in your Pregnancy or report your Doctor will speak to you. Good luck!

Question: Had ultrasound level II test today. Radiologist said everything is fine but in the report suggesed to go for triple marker test. Any idea whether its just routine
Answer: Hello! Triple marker test is just a routine test like double marker test. Triple marker test is the extension of double marker and looks for AFP, hCG, and Estriol. AFP: alpha-fetoprotein is a protein that is produced by the fetus. hCG: human chorionic gonadotropin is a hormone produced within the placenta Estriol: estriol is an estrogen produced by both the fetus and the placenta The triple screen test is performed between the 15th and 20th week of pregnancy. Low levels of AFP and abnormal levels of hCG and estriol may indicate that the developing baby has Trisomy 21, Trisomy 18 or another type of chromosome abnormality. Take care
