Yes you are absolutely right .leg swelling is normal phenomena in some pregnant mothe due phathophysiology and many more reasons,long standing may be a on of the reason.so you should be elevat legs horizontaly inbetween the interval.At night during sleep kept pillow below the foot so the gravitational pull fluid is compensated during night and decrease swelling. If swelling persists long time then you should contact your doc for rule out reason of swelling. Hope it's helpful. Take care.
