Question: My baby got his first food ceremony (muhjhuthi) today .how should I start giving food to him ?
Answer: Hi dear, Typically, a six-month-old baby is still primarily breastfed or formula fed. Besides this, solid food can be introduced at one primary meal of the day, preferably breakfast or lunch. Introduce only one food and observe the baby by continuously feeding the same food for at least three days. If the baby responds well and does not show any signs of allergy, then you can try other food varieties.Fruits like banana, apple can be mashed veggie like potato, carrot, pumpkin ..but mash the food..soup of dal n broken rice with breast or formula milk is. Also good for baby. But avoid sugar to ur baby.

Answer: Hi, it is recommended that a baby by given only mothers feed till they are six months old. It would be good if you could wait for another 1.5 months before startng outside food. Please do remember that babies stomach is very delicate and before startng anything new, taking advise of a pediatrician is always recommended.

Question: My baby is 6 months old. What solid food i should start to give her first ?
Answer: Start with fruit pureed, as it’s easy to digest. Always follow 3 days-wait-rule. That means you must keep a gap of 3 days between two new foods. This is the best way to check food allergies in babies. Stop feeding that particular food in case of food allergy. Don’t add breastmilk or formula milk during cooking, it should not be heated directly on the flame. Add breast milk or formula milk once the food is ready to eat for your baby. Baby food must be soft, properly cooked and easy to chew. Start with a very small quantity of 1 spoon and slowly increase the portion. Weaning food must be a single grain food.Always feed freshly cooked food to your baby. Do not add salt, sugar, honey to your baby’s food.Mashed bananaStewed apple Well steamed and pureed vegetables like carrots, sweet potato, pumpkin , french beansPulse soup (moong dal ka pani)Rice Water (Chawal ka pani)Homemade single-grain cereals like rice, barley, oats mixed with breastmilk or formula milkSteamed and pureed fruits like pear, avocado, peach, chikoo. You can try the homemade vegetable soup for your baby.
