Question: Hi my baby is 9 days .... she sleeps most of the time and drinks milk for like 10-15 mins. I am not giving her formula milk only breast milk. Is this normal dinking milk only for 10-15 mins
Answer: If she is sleeping then you should wake her up and give her feed Tips to keep baby awake during a feed: burp and switch breasts oftenchange diaper half way through a feedingrub, massage or tickle feet, toes, hands and/or underarmsstroke facetalk or sing to babystroke baby's spine or walk your fingers up baby's spinewashcloth on face/neckblow gently into baby's facetalk to babyremove his clothes, do skin to skin, or at least unsaddlesit baby upright since this is a hard position to fall asleep inplace baby on a flat surface next to you without blankets etc. After baby lies there for 30 seconds or so he'll probably start to fuss and kick and be ready to eat again. This is one of my favorite techniques. It works really well, and it doesn't require much energy from a tired mom.bicycle baby's legs and armsfeed baby in a light and noisy environmentCrown Reflex- Dance your fingers on the crown of baby's head (firmly but not hard). This helps to lengthen feeds by keeping baby sucking and swallowing.Palmar Reflex- massage baby's palms in a circle with your thumbs. Do this for up to a minute if needed to help baby open his mouth and get ready to nurse.
Question: My baby hardly burps after feed, is it fine
Answer: Hi dear, see its not a problem at all. Baby digestive system is still developing and little bit vomiting is normal. Many a times during burp baby stomach got pressed n it's because of that sometime baby pukes.. Also some babies don't burp like my nephew he never burped no matter how long you carry him on shoulder n I have seen many such babies too. Relax . But don't forget to burp after every feed. According to lactation consultant 20 min burp n 20 min feed is needed.
