Question: Hi
I am.32 weeks pregnant. In my last ultrasound it was found that extra renal pelvis measures 12.9 mm in diameter, intra renal pelvis measures 8.4 mm with manor calyceal dilation. Left renal pelvis measures 7.3 mm in diameter. No calyceal dilatation seen. What does this means? How its going to affect my baby??
Answer: Since the report mentions minor then you should not worry but monitoring is required your baby will be monitored after first week of birth as well so the association of renal pelvis dilatation is of significance as it is an indication of urinary tract Pathology but the risk and the severity always depends on the dilatation if the rpd measures more than 15 mm then there is a risk of postnatal rpd and obstruction
Do not worry.
