Question: Hi doctor I'm 7 weeks pregnant i suffer from cold, sneezing,fever is it normal or any serious issue

Answer: Hello dear. When you become pregnant, your immune system is likely to change. As a result of these changes, you may contract a cold or a cough at some point during your pregnancy. In addition, your illness may last longer. Place a humidifier in your room, keep your head elevated on your pillow while resting, or use nasal strips. You can take steam or even inhale eucalyptus which gives some relief. Fevers during pregnancy are never normal, so an exam is always recommended. If fever is caused by a viral illness mild medication would do. If it's caused by bacterial, an antibiotic is often needed. Please consult your gynecologist for checking on this. Take care.

As the body's immune system dips to support the baby,mothers do catch cold quite often .try to stay warm.keep sipping warm water through out the day. Steaming helps to clearing nasal congestion. Cold and sneezing is common in this weather and fever is indicating that body is fighting with infection, pls dont worry hv a paracetamol after talking to ur Dr. as its safe and inhale steam, green tea, dry gingr, biting clove will help u fight it but dont worry baby is unaffected.. No dear cough - cold will not harm your baby directly but its troublesome for you, for fever you can consult Doctor and have paracetamol its safe, for cough you can; *Dry ginger helps little. A small pinch of dry ginger powder with some jaggery, boil well and drink like tea. *Green tulsi tea also helps. *You can keep a small cinnamon in mouth, its safe and works well in cough. *Biting clove is also useful. *Honey lemon and ginger tea also is good.
