13 weeks pregnant mother

Question: Hello,am 12weeks 5days pregnant...i hv hypothyroid in which tsh is 8.142, free t4 0.57.am taking thyronorm 50mg too..my doubt is how can i control my thyroid level and which are the foods i hv to add and which one i have to avoid??

Answer: Hi dear, I would suggest you to increase your dose if you have not.tsh rises in pregnancy as it's requirements increases.ypur TSH should be below 3 or atleast around 3.there is not particular food that you need to avoid as such.but avoid taking coffee post two hours of consuming medicine.always take thyroid medicine in empty stomach.it is absorbed better.cabbage is beleived to prevent absorption of thyroid medicine.so eat in moderation.
