Question:Can i breastfeed my baby while having chicken pox?
Though its a little controversial some say yes and some say no, i would like share an experience which i have seen my Dr. to handle is the the mom was in distress due to unable to feed the baby during chicken pox but the Dr. said she can continue to directly feed the baby because baby has already developed the resistance as ppl start to be contagious way before the symptoms start to show, hence its up to you and your Dr. but i would suggest to pls try to pump and feed, to be on the safe side.
Hope yoy feel better soon..
Answer: Sadly you and your baby might have to face serious health risks due to chicken pox at this stage. You are at a high risk of pneumonia yourself.Since you are past the 20 week mark your baby may have a slight risk ( risk is higher upto 20 weeks) of congenital varicella syndrome-skin scarring, eye, brain ,limb ,GI abnormalities.
Your doctor will prescribe you antiviral oral tablets which you will have to take to keep the infection under control. It is safe for your baby.
Answer: Hi, if you got chicken pox at 14 weeks of pregnancy, there a small risk of your baby developing fetal varicella syndrome.
contact your doctor for treatment who will prescribe a antiviral drug .
generally your baby will be born healthy if the infection is not occurring at later stages of pregnancy and treated well
