Question: Polyhydramnios during 32 weeks is thst serious

1 Answers
Answer: Hi dear, Fluid level more than 18 cm is polyhydramnios. During pregnancy, amniotic fluid is the protective barrier or cushion for your baby. Though we never think about it at initial stages of pregnancy, but later stages it becomes an important criteria to detect baby's health. Women with inadequate AFI and women with more AFI are both not normal for sure. More than normal ranges fluid could lead to preterm labor by increasing more pressure build up. It could also be due to few reasons: 1- mother's sugar level out of control 2-baby not swallowing enough fluid 3- baby producing excessive urine 4- swelling up in baby's body with excess fluid 5- genetic reasons Certain complications attached to this is preterm labor and Babies are also more likely to move into positions which aren’t ideal for birth. There are certain treatments for this .you can talk to your doctor if it is really required.

Question: Is amniotic fluid polyhydramnios at 33 weeks a serious concern or it can be dealt with it?
Answer: Hello dear Polyhydramnios is a medical condition describing an excess of amniotic fluid in the amniotic sac. It is seen in about 1% of pregnancies. It is typically diagnosed when the amniotic fluid index is greater than 24 cm. Normally afi should be in between 8-18cm Hi. If your afi level is more than 25cm you are polyhydromnios means more amniotic fluid. If so you will be monitored closely as pre term contraction or labour me happen. A high-resolution ultrasound to check for abnormalities and some test for a genetic defect and infections will be performed. You'll also need to have regular nonstress testor ultrasounds for the rest of your pregnancy to monitor your baby's development. And you'll be watched closely for signs of preterm labor. There are chances of  gestational diabetes too so doctor will ask to go for diabeties test also. You'll be monitored carefully during labor as well. Because of the extra amniotic fluid, there's a greater risk of an umbilical cord prolapse or a placental abruption when your water breaks. Both require an immediate c-section.
