Answer: Hello dear. If stool has visible mucus or green in color it can be a sign of bacterial infections. It also happens if the baby is on more of formula milk. You can consult your pediatrician, so that the doctor would be able to treat this. Not to worry, your baby would be fine. Take care.

Answer: There are majorly 3 reasons for baby to pass green stool. First, imbalance in foremilk and hindmilk. When baby takes only foremilk he is likely to pass green stool. For this feed baby for minimum of 20mins each breast. This way he ll get hindmilk. Second, When baby has any bacterial or viral infection like cold and cough. Apply nutmeg paste on baby's chest feet and palms daily at night. And you can also use mustard garlic ajwain oil to massage his body. Third, It could be due to stomach infection. In this case get stool test done.

Question: My baby is passing dark green stool from last one week...is it a sign of any kind of infection?
Answer: Hi, dark green stools are sign of infection and sometimes if the baby is breastfeeding, then indicates the imbalance between foremilk and hind milk. Hence if the baby is on breastmilk then try to feed the baby from one side at a time, feed for atleast 15-20 minutes to ensure that the baby gets hind milk also. If after following this also the stools are green then please consult the doctor as it is due to infection.
