Question: My five year old boy had walking abnormality. His scanning report is periventricular leucomalacia. We had given him all kind of treatments including physiotherapy and Ayurvedic massaging. Please give me further information about this. We are tensed a lot.
Answer: Hi dear! So pvl (periventricular leukomalacia) is when there is softening of a white part of the brain tissue that surrounds the ventricles in the brain . This white matter is responsible for sending information between the nerve cells from the spinal cord and they control the motor movements so as the baby grows , the injured nerve cells will cause problems in movements dear and therefore the baby will have difficulty in moving . This happens mostly in preterm babies whose brain tissues are delicate. So normally there is no treatment for this but as you tried physiotherapy you should continue doing that and speech therapy can also help. Don't worry dear everything will be fine dear. Take care dear Dont worry your baby is going to be fine dear. I hope this information is helpful to you dear.
