14 weeks pregnant mother

Question: I am 14weeks pregnant nd my age is 25yrs nd yesterday I got my double marker test reports nd it showed 1:204 screenings of trisomy21 with high risk. What is it.. is there anything to worry abt???

Answer: hi dear! so it shows that your baby has 1 in 204 possibility of having down's syndrome . which is high risk dear. so this is just a diagnostic test which shows the risk but we need to confirm the diagnosis dear. so we should perform a confirmatory test to confirm if the baby has down's syndrome. so we need to do amniocentesis dear. in which with a help of syringe , a small amount of fluid will be taken out from the fluid that surrounds the baby as it contains fetal cells and these cells will be send to the laboratory to see for the abnormality dear. so you will have to perform this confirmatory test dear. take care. i hope this information helps .
