13 weeks pregnant mother

Question: Hi mam, normally it is said that we should lay on our left side but I don't feel comfortable in that position also I am having back pain.. Is there any problem if I lay on my back??

Answer: Hi.. Dear you can sleep on your side. Sleeping on back for a little while is ok, but not longer. Sleeping on your left side will increase the amount of blood and nutrients that reach the placenta and your baby. Keep your legs and knees bent, and put a pillow (Maternity pillow) between your legs.. As far as your back pain is concerned, it is common during pregnancy, because the ligaments in your body naturally becomes softer and stretch to prepare you for labour. This puts a strain on joints of your lower back and pelvis, which causes back pain... Pillows will give you some comfort, and whenever you will visit your gynaecologist next, inform her about the same..

Answer: Hi! Sometimes its OK to feel a little relax however, Its better to sleep at your left side which increases the blood flow to your placenta and your baby gets the nutrients it needs. Sleeping on your back at 20 weeks is not a good idea, as your blood vessels are pressed by the baby, and you will nauseated and dizzy also if you have a backpain it will increase. Good luck!

Answer: hi dear , though as of now you are able to , as the pregnancy progresses its not advisable to sleep like tthat and hence better to get adjusted to sleep on the side , you can keep cushion or pillow to support this position and get used to it from now ..
