Question: Hi doctor.. I am 1 month pregnant and I have pain in lower abdomen.. Is it safe??

Answer: Dear, stomach pains in pregnancy are common, especially as your pregnancy progresses. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. If you have a lot of gas, avoid oily, spicy foods and heavy pulses such as rajma or chana that produce gas. You can eat them again when you feel better. A good home remedy for bloating and gas is to boil three or four teaspoons of fennel seeds (saunf) and cumin (jeera) in one litre of water. Cool it and take frequent sips through the day with a bit of sugar to make it tasty....If you are having persistent  abdominal/ stomach pain or cramping, consult your doctor or midwife immediately.
Answer: Hi.. Dear abdominal pain is caused by the stretching of the ligament that supports the uterus, as the uterus grows. This is normal, therefore, do not worry, try using Maternity pillow. However, gas and bloating can also be the reason. Sit down, put your feet up and relax.. Keep yourself hydrated (drink lot of fluids). Whenever, you will next visit your gynaecologist, inform her about the same.

However if the pain is severe and unbearable, you'll have to contact your gynecologist immediately. Few of the remedies are : Sit down, put your feet up, and relax. Resting comfortably should relieve your symptoms. A hot water bottle or heating pad might help. Drink lots of liquids. When you do feel a pain, bend towards the pain to relieve it. Take care.

As the baby grows and demands more space, the uterus stretches itself pushing the other organs. Because of this, the stomach pain occur. Besides this constipation, large meals, or flatulence can also lead to abdominal pain. If pain is unbearable then consult with doctor.
