Question: Diet plans for 6 month old baby
Ideally after 6 months you can offer everything which is home made, easy to digest, but not at a time, am sharing few points which has helped me weaning;
Dont start everything at a time go slow, give one food at a time.
On the first week you can only give breakfast after that week start giving lunch along with breakfast, thats the way you need to start weaning the baby.
If the baby is not interested do not force/distract feed it affects the natural appetite.
Breast milk/ Formula remains the main food till 1 yr of age.
Dont add salt and sugar to baby's food till 1 yr. as they are harmful for the baby .
Whatever salt is needed is present in BM/FM and do not offer much sugary food as it developes sweet tooth for the child which again is harmful in the long run.
Its better to start weaning with home made food.
You can give steamed Apple, Mashed Banana, Carrot puree etc as her few first food, veggies khichdi, oats porridge, overcooked daal rice and home made cereal too;
Brown Rice-1 cup
Green moong-1/2 cup
Kaala channa-1/4 cup
Step 1: wash and air dry/sun dry ingredients @ one on a cloth (seperately each).
Step 2: once dried dry roast each item (seperately) on a low flame to get a light brown color/slight aroma.
Step 3: dry roast ingredients@two on low flame.
Step 4: grind each item in mixer to get a fine powder.
(sieve to get fine powder and regrind if any granules left)
Step 5: mix all together and store in an airtight container.
As and when you need it, take a little quantity, boil it with water, add ghee depending on your baby's taste.
(Texture and quantity depending on your baby's age)
*Very important before you start solid please check if your baby can sit in tripod position with support then only start solid.
Please dont add sugar or salt to your baby's food as it poses risk according to World Health Organization or WHO and BM/FM remains the main food till 1 yr of baby's age.
Hope this helps!
